About the Centre

The Clare Scout Centre was officially opened on September 28, 2008. It is located in beautiful surroundings in Ballygriffy Woods near the village of Ruan in County Clare, about 7 miles north of Ennis.

We are very lucky to have such an amazing facility available to us.

The centre is surrounded by woodland and natural beauty and is located on the Mid-Clare Way, on the edge of the Burren. The centre is an ideal venue for camping, hill walking, or to use as a base camp while exploring the beauty of the Burren and the rugged West Coast of Ireland.

We spend a week at the Scout Centre and still our scouts did not want to go home. There is something magical about this place and kids just love it.

We have 2 buildings for Indoor Accommodation, The Bank and The Roche – these buildings are named after the Companies who donated them – Bank of Ireland, Shannon & Roche, Clarecastle.
We also have a camp kitchen and indoor dining area. There is also an outdoor dining area available with sheltered picnic benches & tables. The camp kitchen has a gas cooker and an electric oven, a microwave and 2 large fridges.

Since its beginnings the Scout Centre has seen a lot of developments and we are constantly looking at how we can create better experiences for our visitors.

Where we are

Entry to the scout centre is through a working farm, with horses and children at play.

PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AND WITH CARE!!!
